Job Description:

Technical Consultant – Homeland Security

£75,000 to £85,000 | Cheltenham / London | Hybrid

Ncounter is supporting a growing technology consultancy looking to build out its technical capability across Homeland Security and the wider UK public sector. This is a Principal-level opportunity for someone who combines strong consulting skills with a technical background and can operate comfortably between business stakeholders, consultants and engineering teams.

You could come from a Solution Architecture, Technical Business Analysis, Technical Delivery or broader Technology Consulting background. The important part is that you understand technology, but can also step beyond a single technical discipline to understand the wider problem, advise clients and help turn complex requirements into practical solutions.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Acting as the bridge between consulting teams, senior stakeholders and technical specialists
  • Supporting technical initiatives from discovery and solution definition through to delivery and transition
  • Shaping solutions across complex digital and technology environments
  • Translating business and operational requirements into clear technical direction
  • Working across areas such as architecture, systems integration, digital transformation and emerging technology
  • Leading client conversations and producing clear technical recommendations and documentation
  • Supporting technical bids, solution development and new client opportunities

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong experience within technology or management consulting
  • A background in Solution Architecture, Technical BA, Technical Delivery, Systems Engineering or a similar discipline
  • Experience delivering complex technology programmes, ideally within Central Government, Homeland Security, Defence or National Security
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the confidence to engage with senior technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience working across the wider delivery lifecycle rather than within one narrow technical specialism
  • Current or previous UK Security Clearance would be highly beneficial

There will be increasing exposure to AI-focused programmes as this capability develops, although previous AI experience is not essential. This is an opportunity to join at an important stage of growth, helping shape a developing technical consulting capability while working on complex programmes with genuine public impact.

If your background combines consultancy with credible technical delivery experience,
