The Opportunity
This 12-month placement offers a starting salary of 26,050 and the chance to work within our Nuclear Safety team. Youll support the Sizewell B safety case team and contribute to safe generation at the UKs only operating PWR station.
Youll gain exposure to short-term and long-term projects, with a particular focus on mechanical or structural integrity issues affecting the safety case for the plant. Youll also have opportunities to visit operating nuclear stations and collaborate with EDFs engineering teams.
What Youll Experience
During your Placement, youll work with the Design Authority team to undertake reviews and analyses in support of safety assessments of for example the reactor pressure vessel or other components.
Youll communicate with colleagues across the fleet, contribute to technical documentation, and take part in training to deepen your understanding of nuclear plant and engineering. This placement offers a unique opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting.
Your Work Location
Our #Gloucester office will be your main location, with hybrid working available throughout the placement. Youll also have opportunities to visit nuclear power stations across the UK.
Who You Are
To be eligible for this EDF industrial placement, you need to be on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:2 undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant science or engineering degree.
It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK. Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility, we reserve the right in our decisions to give priority to those who already have the right to work in the UK.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
