Facade Associate Director

Overview

As Associate Director in our Façade Engineering Team, you will lead and grow a specialist façade consultancy, shaping strategic direction and delivering technically excellent solutions. You will work with clients, architects and multidisciplinary teams to drive buildable, commercially successful façade projects. The role combines technical leadership, business development and people management to expand our façade capabilities. You’ll mentor the next generation of façade professionals and contribute to broader company initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and industry stakeholders
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities and support project pipeline development
• Prepare project fee proposals, negotiate appointments and manage project commercials
• Provide senior technical leadership ensuring balance of performance, buildability, sustainability and cost
• Oversee façade design development, technical reviews, specs, testing and construction support
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations and best practices
• Lead and mentor a high-performing façade engineering team
• Support recruitment, performance reviews and succession planning
• Promote innovation and adoption of new façade technologies
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated design solutions
• Represent the company at industry events and client meetings
• Contribute to the façades business plan and strategic initiatives
• Lead knowledge sharing and cross-team collaboration
• Act as senior ambassador for façade capabilities internally and externally

Key requirements

• Degree qualified in engineering, architecture, building design or related discipline
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional qualification
• Extensive experience in façade industry and specialist façade consultancy
• Proven track record leading façade projects from concept to completion
• Strong understanding of façade design, performance, materials and interfaces
• Knowledge of façade, structural and building regulations and standards
• Experience in business development, fee proposals, bidding and winning work
• Strong commercial awareness and experience managing project or team financials
• Proven ability to build and maintain client-architect-contractor relationships
• Experience mentoring engineers and technical professionals
• Experience with façade and structural analysis/design software (Strand7, SJ MEPLA, THERM, Flixo) and AutoCAD and/or Revit
• Good IT skills (Microsoft Office) and openness to digital tools in façades
