Freelance Site Manager

Elvet Recruitment are supporting a main contractor delivering a Newcastle‑based education project and seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to take ownership of day‑to‑day site delivery over a 3‑month period. This role suits someone confident running sites independently, maintaining programme, safety and quality on a fast‑paced build.

The Role

• Oversee daily site operations and coordinate subcontractors.
• Maintain progress against programme and manage site logistics.
• Lead site inductions, briefings, RAMS and permit control.
• Ensure compliance with HSE standards and company procedures.
• Manage quality checks, snagging and site documentation.
• Liaise with the Project Manager, client reps and design team.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Manager for a main contractor.
• SMSTS & CSCS (Manager’s card preferred).
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to run a site autonomously and keep works on track.
• Available immediately or at short notice.

Contract Details

• Location: Newcastle
• Duration: 3 months
• Rate: £300-£350 per day (CIS)
• Start: ASAP
