VANRATH is delighted to be working with a well-established accountancy firm in Belfast to recruit a Tax Senior to join its growing tax team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with at least three years’ experience who enjoys working across both personal and corporate tax and building strong client relationships. Whether you have completed your ATT qualification, are part-qualified, or have developed your tax expertise through hands-on practice experience, this opportunity offers the chance to take ownership of your work within a supportive and progressive firm. There is no requirement to continue with professional exams, making this particularly attractive to someone who wants to focus on developing their practical tax expertise and client relationships.
The Role
You will join an established tax team, working across a varied portfolio of clients in the private, public and voluntary sectors. The position offers a mix of corporate and personal tax compliance, alongside regular client contact and the opportunity to support more junior members of the team.
What You Will Do
- Prepare corporation tax computations and returns, alongside personal tax returns.
- Review work completed by more junior members of the team where required.
- Manage day-to-day client queries and maintain strong working relationships.
- Deliver a high-quality tax compliance service across a varied client portfolio.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure deadlines are met and clients receive an excellent service.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships and contribute to the wider success of the tax team.
What’s in It for You?
- A varied role covering both corporate and personal tax.
- A supportive working environment with access to mentoring and professional development.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- An active social calendar, with opportunities to get involved in firm and community activities.
- Potential secondment opportunities through an established international accountancy network.
- The opportunity to develop your technical expertise and client-facing responsibilities without the pressure of progressing through further exams.
Requirements
- At least three years’ solid tax experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice.
- Experience preparing personal tax returns and corporation tax computations.
- ATT qualified, part-qualified or qualified in a relevant tax or accountancy discipline would be advantageous, but is not essential.
- Strong technical knowledge and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Good communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
