Overview
As a Design Coordinator in Murphy’s Energy Team, you will drive design coordination on National Grid’s Electricity Transmission Project from our Cardiff office with site travel. You will interface with internal designers, consultants, suppliers and site teams to ensure design quality, progress, and constructability align with the project programme. You will oversee BIM/CAD workflows, CDE usage, and design submissions to support safe, efficient delivery. This role offers meaningful impact by shaping design during EPC delivery and enabling reliable transmission infrastructure. Responsibilities
- Review design submissions for quality and sufficiency
- Lead design engineering on small/medium projects as directed
- Coordinate and manage design progress with internal designers, consultants, suppliers, and interface contractors
- Ensure correct setup and usage of Aconex or client-approved CDE by all stakeholders
- Monitor, track and report design progress against the project programme
- Oversee constructability and temporary works considerations in relation to permanent works
- Review design progress using CAD/BIM tools
- Monitor and report Design NCRs and closeouts
- Liaise with Surveyors, Buyers, Contract Managers, Project Managers, Site Managers and Estimators to foster a team approach
Key requirements
- HNC/HND in civil engineering, construction or similar
- Exposure to design management/coordination and construction experience
- Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks
- Digital familiarity with BIM, CDEs and document control systems and processes
