Principal AI Security Researcher

Overview

In this role you lead a team at the forefront of AI security research within the UK defence sector. You shape the team’s strategic direction and provide technical leadership to deliver impactful security-led AI solutions. You collaborate with government, academia and industry to raise the UK’s capability in AI security. You will own the quality and integrity of the team’s output and steer high-stakes projects that influence national security and AI practices. Responsibilities

• set and drive the strategic direction for AI security research
• provide technical leadership and mentorship to the team
• identify critical problems and research priorities in AI/ML security
• oversee project delivery and ensure quality/integrity of outputs
• collaborate with government, academia and industry partners
• represent the team in cross-organisational discussions and high-level reviews
• manage team performance and resourcing in a security-conscious environment

Key requirements

• PhD in AI security or extensive relevant commercial experience
• direct experience developing and deploying technologies in the UK defence industry
• team management, project management and strategic direction setting experience
• sole UK nationality and residency for the last 10 years (security clearance prerequisite)
