Operations Supervisor

Overview

In this role you will lead daily production and yard operations at CHEP South Ockendon, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. You’ll manage a shop-floor team, resolve issues, and optimize workflow across production and logistics activities. You will collaborate with engineering and site support to minimize downtime and drive continuous improvement. This hands-on leadership role offers development opportunities and a clear path into senior operational leadership within a global logistics leader.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily production and yard operations to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency
• Lead and develop a team of operational colleagues on the shop floor
• Monitor progress against production plans and address performance issues
• Conduct regular safety audits, shift checks, and operational inspections
• Maintain Health & Safety standards and promote a zero-harm culture
• Ensure adherence to operating procedures to support quality
• Collaborate with engineering, operations and site support to resolve issues and minimize downtime
• Support absence management and other first-line people management activities
• Provide teams with tools, equipment and resources needed to perform their roles
• Maintain accurate operational records and support continuous improvement initiatives

Key requirements

• Experience leading teams in manufacturing, production, logistics or warehousing
• Strong people management and communication skills
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe systems of work
• Experience working to operational KPIs and production targets
• Ability to coach, motivate and support frontline teams
• Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making in a fast-paced environment
• Experience conducting audits, inspections or compliance checks
• Hands-on leadership style with visible shop-floor presence
• Flexibility to support multiple operational areas including production and yard operations
