Expert are seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our Client’s Planning Team, supporting telecommunications infrastructure projects.
The role will focus on measuring and valuing completed works, managing monthly Applications for Payment (AFP) and ensuring accurate, timely submissions.
The successful candidate will work closely with Planning, Operations and Field Teams to verify works, maintain records and resolve queries.
Permanent role, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, £32,000
Key Responsibilities
Measurements & Valuations
- Measure and value completed works against agreed rates.
- Prepare and submit monthly Applications for Payment (AFP).
- Review job records and supporting evidence to verify quantities.
- Identify additional works, variations and outstanding claims.
- Monitor client approvals and follow up on disputed or unpaid items.
Commercial & Operational Support
- Liaise with internal teams to confirm completed works.
- Review subcontractor claims against completed works and agreed rates.
- Resolve discrepancies between subcontractor claims and client valuations.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and update relevant systems.
- Report to management on valuations, deadlines and outstanding queries.
- Support improvements to measurement and payment processes.
Essential Criteria
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office applications.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Proactive, reliable and willing to learn.
Desirable Criteria
- Qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Experience in telecommunications, utilities or civil engineering.
- Knowledge of civils, ducting, cabling and reinstatement works.
- Experience with payment applications, schedules of rates or valuations.
- Familiarity with client portals and project management systems.
