Design Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead the design management across preconstruction and construction phases for Bouygues UK’s Building Safety team. You will coordinate design consultants, ensure compliance and buildability, and support cost-effective delivery within time and budget targets. Working closely with clients, consultants, and site teams, you will develop robust design packages and procurement strategies. This is a hands-on role in a dynamic, safety-focused environment that values collaboration and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design process across preconstruction and construction phases
• Oversee design consultants to ensure compliance, buildability and efficiency
• Act as primary liaison between client, consultants, project teams and site management
• Coordinate preparation, review and sign-off of all design documentation
• Ensure smooth flow and control of design information per procedures
• Support commercial and procurement in developing design packages and strategies

Key requirements

• Construction or Architecture qualification
• Strong façade and exterior knowledge
• Fire Safety design expertise
• Experience with main contractor projects
• Expert understanding of Design & Build process
• Good knowledge of planning processes and building regulations
• Proven experience managing design on multiple project types (Residential, Schools, Hospitals, Student accommodation)
• Knowledge of RIBA work stages
