Senior Associate – Casualty Injury

Overview

In this Senior Associate role, you will manage a caseload of EL/PL claims and high-value matters, including multi-track work, within the Insurance Disputes NSL in Birmingham. You will supervise junior lawyers, support larger cases with Partners, and contribute to client seminars and team marketing. The role blends hands-on litigation with team leadership, handling catastrophic injury claims and occasional clinical negligence work. This is a client-facing, high-responsibility position at a leading law firm with a collaborative culture and focus on delivering results.

Responsibilities

• Manage own caseload of EL and PL claims, including high-value multi-track matters
• Supervise junior lawyers, trainees, and paralegals
• Support larger cases alongside Partner-level fee earners
• Contribute to team marketing events and client seminars
• Assist in handling catastrophic injury claims arising from industrial accidents
• Engage with direct corporate clients, insurers, and intermediaries
• Engage in the firm’s business development activities

Key requirements

• Extensive Defendant Personal Injury Litigation experience
• Minimum four years post-qualification experience
• Ability to manage own caseload independently and guide others
• Excellent written English for drafting
• Advocacy skills
• Strong time and file management skills
• Experience assisting on larger cases with Partners (desirable)
• Experience with EL/PL claims and multi-track work (essential)
