Senior Buyer (Housing & Construction)

Overview

As Senior Buyer, you will lead end-to-end procurement for Alliance Norse, from concept through contract award. You’ll build strong supplier and stakeholder relationships to secure value for money and effective supply chains. This role blends tendering, negotiations, and contract implementation with ongoing market analysis and risk-aware planning. A key element is collaborating across the Procurement Team and Alliance Norse to deliver procurement projects in a housing/construction context. You will operate in a public sector setting with travel to Buxton and Norwich.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement from concept to contract award
• Conduct market analysis, sourcing, tendering, and commercial negotiations
• Oversee contract implementation and supplier/stakeholder relationship management
• Ensure value for money and effective supply chain management; deliver procurement projects
• Develop and implement category plans for Alliance Norse
• Review and advise on JCT contract terms
• Run public sector tendering through Find a Tender Service (FTS)
• Ensure compliance with Procurement Act 2023
• Engage suppliers; selection, evaluation, contracting, and ongoing management
• Provide market analysis, benchmark data, and supplier evaluations to support planning and risk management
• Balance focus between Procurement Team and Alliance Norse (Buxton) for integration and stakeholder development

Key requirements

• Experience in construction procurement
• Experience in housing association or local authority setting (preferred)
• Working knowledge of JCT contracts
• Understanding of public sector procurement
• Understanding of strategic sourcing tools and techniques
• Familiarity with procurement performance measures, processes, and contracts
• Full UK Driving Licence (travel to Buxton ~monthly)
• MRICS or AssRICs – desirable
