Senior Civil Structural Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Civil Structural Engineer, you will lead civil and structural design for water and wastewater projects and support AMP8 delivery. Based in Leeds or Newcastle with hybrid working, you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver resilient infrastructure. You will develop practical, buildable solutions across reinforced concrete and water-retaining structures, from concept to construction support. This is a chance to influence major UK water programmes and mentor junior engineers while working with leading utility clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil and structural design across water and wastewater projects
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, reports and design documentation
• Deliver reinforced concrete and structural designs for water-retaining and buried structures
• Support technical delivery of major AMP8 programmes and capital investment schemes
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and graduates
• Manage project deliverables to quality, programme and budget
• Engage with clients, contractors and internal project teams
• Contribute to work-winning activities and technical excellence initiatives

Key requirements

• Approximately 5+ years’ experience in civil and structural engineering, ideally in the UK water sector
• Experience designing reinforced concrete structures
• Knowledge of water-retaining structures, tanks, chambers and buried assets
• Experience in the water and wastewater sector
• Understanding of retaining wall and foundation design
• Experience preparing and checking engineering calculations, reports and technical specifications
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
