Overview

In this role you lead the Markets Magazine agenda, shaping deep, accessible finance analysis for a global audience. You’ll guide weekly digital coverage and a subscriber-focused email, while steering idea-driven pieces for Bloomberg Weekend. You’ll recruit and coach reporters, collaborating across graphics, audience and video teams to broaden Markets Magazine’s presence. Your work translates complex markets material into clear storytelling that informs professionals and curious readers alike, within Bloomberg’s distinctive analytical lens.

Responsibilities

• Develop new ways to deliver Bloomberg’s market analysis to digital subscribers with a weekly cadence
• Write/edit a weekly Bloomberg subscriber email (original and curated material)
• Commission, edit and occasionally author essays, profiles and book reviews for Bloomberg Weekend
• Recruit contributors, coach reporters for broader-audience writing, and nurture ongoing editorial relationships
• Collaborate with graphics, audience, and video teams to enhance Markets Magazine on Bloomberg video channels
• Utilize Bloomberg terminal and proprietary AI tools to uncover data and curate novel insights

Key requirements

• 8+ years of financial journalism experience
• Deep understanding of finance and markets across sectors (banking, investments, equities, fixed income, real estate, PE, credit, energy, commodities, macroeconomics, VC, consumer finance)
• Ability to translate complex financial material into engaging, precise language
• Experience commissioning and editing enterprise journalism for a global audience
• Fluency in digital formats: newsletters, data visualizations, short-form video
• Strong familiarity with digital audiences, analytics, and subscription ecosystems
• Proven collaboration with newsroom and platform teams and ability to network across a global bureau
• Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to support colleagues; familiarity with Bloomberg terminal is a plus
