Senior Python Software Engineer

Overview

In this role you will help design and expand reliable Python-based systems that support Cboe Europe’s trading operations. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to build new products, explore R&D opportunities, and provide production support for trading platforms. You will join a global development team dedicated to testable, maintainable code and continuous innovation at the largest equities exchange in Europe. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business development and sales to create new products and features
• Design and build highly reliable, testable Python systems for trading operations
• Participate in R&D projects to evaluate new technologies
• Provide operational production support per incident management processes
• Contribute to post-mortem analyses and follow-up actions
• Be part of a global software development team

Key requirements

• Solid Python knowledge
• Commitment to writing testable, maintainable code
• Familiarity with advanced SQL techniques
• Strong Linux knowledge
• Knowledge of algorithms and data structures
• Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
• Experience with TDD, BDD or other testing methodologies (highly preferred)
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and Snowflake (preferred)
• Familiarity with web frameworks such as Django, Flask or FastAPI (preferred)
• Familiarity with Apache Kafka (preferred)
• Familiarity with Apache Airflow (preferred)
• Familiarity with Java (preferred)
• Experience in financial domains (market data, order management, etc.) (preferred)
• Experience implementing an AI SDLC with tools like Claude Code or OpenAI Codex (desirable)
