Principal Wastewater Modeller

Overview

In this role you will lead wastewater modelling initiatives within the Water department in Leeds, delivering technical modelling work and managing project delivery. You will guide a team of junior modellers, collaborate with clients, and develop innovative processes for urban drainage projects. The position combines modelling excellence with commercial awareness to drive successful project outcomes. You will work on feasibility studies, model building, and surface water management plans, shaping solutions for transformative water infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Deliver modelling programme with focus on technical delivery, cost and programme management
• Lead a team of junior modellers; provide technical guidance and training
• Work on feasibility studies, model building, and surface water management plans
• Engage with clients’ technical teams to ensure successful delivery
• Develop innovative modelling tools and processes
• Ensure quality assurance and control across project deliverables

Key requirements

• Experience using Infoworks ICM
• Water quality modelling and/or UPM studies advantageous
• Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS or MapInfo)
• Experience in managing projects and acting as technical discipline lead
• Skills in managing modelling teams from a commercial/financial perspective
• Understanding of market trends and interest in business development
• Chartered status with ICE or CIWEM
