Lead Infrastructure Engineer

Overview

In this role you drive VMware-based infrastructure delivery on a large-scale project for defence clients, shaping a new environment with an automation-first mindset. You will work on-site in Farnborough as part of a cross-functional team, delivering resilient virtualization and storage solutions. You’ll implement automation to streamline provisioning and lifecycle management, contributing to secure, mission-critical operations. This role offers engagement with DV-cleared environments and opportunities to influence architecture and processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage VMware vSphere administration across ESXi hosts, vCenter, clusters and resource pools
• Design, deploy and maintain hyper-converged storage environments (vSAN)
• Develop automation: PowerCLI scripting, templates, and automated provisioning

Key requirements

• VMware vSphere administration with deep experience in managing ESXi, vCenter, clusters, and resource pools
• vSAN design, deployment, and maintenance
• HA/DRS configuration for resilient clusters
• VMware networking: vSwitches, distributed switches, VLANs, port groups, network segmentation
• VMware Horizon: experience with VDI, image management and application delivery (desirable)
• Automation scripting using PowerCLI
