Lead DevOps Engineer

Overview

In this Lead DevOps Engineer role in London, you ensure the reliability and compliance of mission-critical derivatives trading systems and real-time market data platforms. You will partner with traders, desks, and engineering teams to implement best deployment practices, boost performance, and strengthen availability in global trading environments. You will drive low-latency, compliant operations and own escalation-ready incident handling. This role offers impact across cross-functional teams and a chance to shape deployment and observability for high-stakes financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement deployment, monitoring, and observability best practices
• Manage real-time production issues with rapid incident resolution
• Establish CI/CD pipelines for front-office environments to improve release efficiency
• Collaborate with traders, developers, and infrastructure teams to ensure scalability and performance
• Lead integration and performance testing strategies for low-latency trading platforms
• Enhance compliance and audit readiness, including RTS6 standards
• Provide subject matter expertise for FIX connectivity and market data distribution
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce operational risks and technical debt
• Participate in on-call rotation for global trading infrastructure support

Key requirements

• 8+ years of experience supporting trading systems in front-office environments
• Proven expertise in FIX protocol engineering and vendor/exchange certification
• Strong Python, PowerShell, and scripting skills for automation
• Familiarity with C# and SQL
• Experience troubleshooting market data distribution systems (RTDS – ADS/DACS/ADH)
• Solid knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation for mission-critical systems
• Operational experience with OMS/EMS platforms (e.g., TT, Bloomberg, NYFIX)
• Strong incident management capabilities in high-pressure environments
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
