Product Engineer, Applied AI

Overview

In this role you will turn rapid AI prototypes into secure, production-ready products. You’ll assess existing applications for production readiness and shepherd them through deployment, with strong emphasis on security, scalability, and maintainability. You will collaborate with Technology and security teams to implement integrations, cloud deployments, and live support. You’ll shape engineering patterns as the team grows and contribute to building new prototypes. This position sits in the London Applied AI team, driving client-delivery innovations across the Firm.

Responsibilities

• Assess prototypes for production readiness across architecture, code quality, data handling, security, and scalability
• Decide whether to harden, refactor, rebuild or stop a prototype and plan production path
• Build Python services, APIs and data models; create lightweight frontend interfaces when useful
• Develop MCP integrations with authentication and token exchange
• Collaborate on approved cloud deployments and connections to on-premises systems
• Follow SDLC and security policies; implement tests, access controls, audit logs, and secrets handling
• Deploy applications, establish ownership and handover with Technology teams
• Define and run evaluations for AI-enabled behavior including testing and human review when appropriate
• Monitor production performance and costs; contribute reusable engineering patterns

Key requirements

• Professional software engineering experience taking experimental/early-stage apps into production
• Experience in autonomous, fast-moving environments across development, integration, deployment and live operation
• Strong Python skills with FastAPI or comparable frameworks
• Strong SQL and relational DB skills with API design/integration experience
• Practical understanding of authentication/authorization including OAuth 2.0 or OpenID Connect
• Experience with automated testing, Git, CI/CD, cloud deployment and production troubleshooting
• Clear communication and pragmatic engineering judgement; ability to structure unfamiliar systems; surface risks early
