Section Engineer

Overview

As a Section Engineer, you oversee delivery of assigned works on a framework, ensuring alignment with contracts and the construction programme. You collaborate with clients and site teams, manage permits and temporary works, and uphold safety and quality standards. You will contribute to the on-site programme, coaching subcontractors, and ensuring documentation is complete. This role offers hands-on impact in delivering critical infrastructure projects and advancing Costain’s smart solutions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver elements of the works on the framework in line with contractual obligations and programme
• Ensure works are covered by an approved RAMS and permits
• Oversee temporary works processes and permits for appropriate level of checks
• Brief workforce and subcontractors to provide the required information for effective execution
• Collaborate with the client to support delivery on site
• Contribute to weekly/monthly programme inputs and capture site activity for your section
• Maintain site diaries daily for your section
• Ensure ITPs and check sheets are in place for permanent and temporary works
• Carry out safety and quality inspections for your works
• Coordinate with site supervision to ensure safe execution per programme

Key requirements

• Degree/HNC level qualification in a relevant engineering subject
• CSCS Card
• Vocational Training (successful experience at Graduate Engineer level)
• Full UK driving licence

• Clear communication and briefing of workforce and subcontractors
