Senior SHE Advisor

Overview

In this role you support the Contract SHE function to ensure safe, healthy and environmentally responsible operations. You will work with Contract Leadership, Clients and stakeholders to apply the Group SHE Management System and deliver performance improvements. You will coach teams, deliver targeted training and help drive consistency across the contract’s safety and environmental practices. Your work helps protect people, communities and the environment while supporting Costain’s sustainable goals. This is a chance to influence safety culture and drive data‑driven improvements.

Responsibilities

• Support Contract Leadership, Clients and stakeholders in complying with the Group SHE Management System and Contract SHE performance
• Deliver or support training to enable contract teams to implement the Group SHE Management System
• Coach Contract Operational and Supply Chain Contractors on Contract SHE requirements
• Participate in ongoing assessment of Contract Supply Chain Contractors as needed
• Support delivery of annual Contract and Group SHE Objectives
• Engage with the Contract SHE Assurance programme to ensure compliance with statutory and company requirements
• Assist in investigating unplanned events and closing out assurance findings, sharing lessons under the Group SHE Management System
• Support timely reporting, analysis and use of SHE data to inform leadership and improvements

Key requirements

• SHE-related experience (essential)
• Tech. IOSH or AIEMA or equivalent (essential)
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or NEBOSH Oil and Gas or IEMA Associate Qualification (essential)
• Desirable: additional IOSH/AIEMA certification or NEBOSH Diplomas
