Interim Finance Director
Location: BelfastContract: Interim, expected 9 to 12 months
G1 Search is delighted to be partnering with an established and growing charity delivering essential public services within a regulated environment to appoint an Interim Finance Director.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance leader to provide strategic financial oversight and leadership during an important period for the organisation. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial stability, strengthening financial management and supporting the organisation’s continued growth and development.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and working closely with the senior leadership team and Board, the Interim Finance Director will take responsibility for the organisation’s financial management, planning and reporting.
The role combines strategic financial leadership with operational responsibility, ensuring robust financial governance while supporting commercial and operational decision making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the finance function, overseeing financial planning, budgeting, reporting and control
- Oversee the preparation of management accounts, annual financial statements and Board reporting
- Provide strategic financial advice to support organisational planning, investment decisions and long term financial sustainability
- Manage treasury activities, including cash flow, funding arrangements, loans and banking covenants
- Maintain effective financial governance, internal controls and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Support new business initiatives through financial modelling, investment appraisal and risk assessment
- Identify and implement improvements to financial systems, processes and reporting
- Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring continuity and effective financial management throughout the interim period
Required Experience
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent)
- Proven experience operating at Finance Director, Head of Finance or equivalent senior management level
- Strong financial management experience covering budgeting, forecasting, statutory reporting, financial controls and governance
- Experience of treasury management, funding arrangements and banking relationships would be advantageous
- Experience within a regulated, public service or third sector environment would be beneficial but is not essential
