Laboratory Technologist

Overview

As Laboratory Technologist, you support food safety, quality and customer expectations by performing analytical testing and interpreting results in a fast-paced lab. You will collaborate with Production, Quality and Technical teams to uphold product integrity and report timely findings that drive site performance. The role involves method development support, investigations into anomalies, and deputising for the Lab Team Leader as needed. This is a hands-on position at a specialist dry blending facility with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and safety.

Responsibilities

• Carry out chemical and physical-chemical analyses of samples and standards
• Perform specialised lab tests under guidance of senior team members
• Interpret results, identify anomalies and initiate investigations
• Maintain accurate lab records and timely reporting
• Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine checks
• Prepare reagents, standards and consumables
• Support quality, safety and hygiene standards
• Provide technical support to production and internal stakeholders
• Assist with training of colleagues in the lab
• Support continuous improvement projects and method development
• Deputise for Laboratory Team Leader when required

Key requirements

• Previous laboratory experience in food, scientific, chemical or manufacturing environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Good numerical, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interpret data and identify trends or unusual results
• Strong organisational skills and prioritisation
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Proactive approach to continuous improvement
• Experience with quality, food safety or laboratory management systems would be advantageous
