Sustainability Manager

Overview

As Sustainability Manager, you will lead energy management and carbon reduction initiatives within construction projects, aligning with client sustainability plans and ISO 50001 commitments. You will collaborate with project teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to implement sustainable practices and report on performance. The role includes driving continuous improvement, developing sustainability communications, and supporting bid and design activities. This is a hands-on, impact-focused position in a safety-conscious, client-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop project-specific sustainability management plans aligned to client strategies
• Liaise with site teams and supply chain to meet client sustainability objectives within timelines
• Create communication tools to inform clients and stakeholders about sustainability performance
• Support ISO 50001 commitments and assist data collection and reporting for energy and emissions
• Identify opportunities to deliver cost-effective, sustainable solutions on projects
• Assist designers and engineers in adopting sustainable materials and practices
• Capture best practices and produce case studies to improve performance
• Engage with procurement to drive continuous improvement against client objectives
• Report monthly on project and business sustainability performance
• Identify opportunities for personal development to better support projects
• Contribute to winning work on bids, tenders, and interviews

Key requirements

• Good knowledge of sustainability issues in construction
• Willingness to undertake further training
• Preferably degree level qualification; working towards or holding ISEF membership at an appropriate level
• Strong understanding of the construction process and collaboration with engineers for sustainable solutions
• Good understanding of carbon reduction planning
• Experience of working within the Nuclear industry
• Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to obtain Security Clearance
