About CircuitHub
CircuitHub is reshaping electronics manufacturing with The Grid, a factory‑scale robotics platform that enables rapid, small‑batch, high‑mix electronics assembly.
What We’re Looking For
We’re hiring an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and commission automated robotic systems that support our advanced manufacturing process. The successful candidate will be confident with 3D CAD, have experience designing and commissioning machined components, and enjoy taking their own designs from concept through deployment.
Bonus Skills
- Exposure to PLC systems, particularly Beckhoff TwinCAT
- Programming and running CNC machinery
- Design of chemical handling machinery
- Experience working with optics
What You’ll Do
- Design gantries and end effectors in Fusion 360
- Analyze end‑effector behavior from video recordings and revise geometry to improve reliability
- Conceive novel mechanical systems to handle electronics parts
- Install, commission, and debug robots
- Manage supplier relationships to facilitate machine builds
- Troubleshoot wiring cabinets when motor drives fail to enable
- Collaborate with build‑team members to ensure builds run smoothly, safely and quickly
- Specify a suite of sensors to ensure error detection during machine operation
Compensation
Salary: £45,000 – £100,000, depending on experience.
Lower‑end candidate profile:
- Built some systems with exposure to robotics/automation
- Experience as part of a mechanical design team, seeing parts and subsystems through to manufacture
- Keen interest in a practical robotics career
- Knowledge of design for manufacturing by machining
Upper‑end candidate profile:
- Managed build & deployment of large‑scale automated systems
- Experience with PLC programming and debugging, particularly TwinCat
- Design experience for a wide range of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, injection moulding)
- Technical mentoring of junior engineers
Location
Onsite role at our central Cambridge site, working alongside a driven team of automation engineers.
