Sustainability Advisor

Overview

As a Sustainability Adviser, you will develop and implement energy and carbon reduction plans aligned with client strategies, while ensuring ISO 50001 compliance. You’ll guide bid and operational teams, collaborate with design and supply-chain partners, and advance sustainable practices across projects. The role involves driving continuous improvement, capturing best practices, and contributing to the company’s sustainability strategy. You will work in a construction context, including nuclear sector exposure, to deliver measurable environmental outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Create project-specific sustainability management plans aligned to client strategies
• Coordinate with site teams and supply chain to meet sustainability objectives on schedule
• Develop communication tools and training materials on sustainability topics
• Support ISO 50001 commitments and collect/report energy and emission data
• Identify opportunities to improve value and sustainability in projects
• Assist designers and engineers in applying sustainable materials and practices
• Document best practices and produce case studies
• Engage procurement to drive continuous improvement against client goals
• Report monthly on project and business sustainability performance
• Identify opportunities for personal skill development to support projects

Key requirements

• Good knowledge of sustainability issues in construction
• Willingness to undertake further training
• Preferably degree level qualification
• Working towards or holding ISEF membership or similar professional body
• Solid understanding of construction processes and collaboration with engineers
• Strong understanding of carbon reduction planning
• Experience in the Nuclear industry
• Eligible to work in the UK and obtain Security Clearance
