Overview
In Intercom’s AI Group, you will build the systems powering flagship AI products and help bring ML-based features to production. You will work in the ML Python stack, occasionally spanning Rails. You’ll collaborate with ML Scientists and product teams to shape the best AI-powered product experience for customers. You’ll contribute across ideation, prototyping, implementation and testing, and help scale prototypes to real customers. You’ll mentor engineers and raise technical standards for reliability and performance. This role offers the chance to influence AI-driven customer experiences at a fast-growing company.

Responsibilities
- Build systems powering Intercom’s flagship AI products (ML Python stack, Rails when needed)
- Collaborate with ML Scientists to production‑ize PoC code ensuring robustness and scalability
- Partner with cross‑group product teams to shape AI‑driven product experiences
- Contribute across all software development phases: ideation, prototyping, implementation and testing
- Mentor and support the career development of other engineers
- Raise technical standards, performance, reliability, and operational excellence
Key requirements
- 5+ years of experience shipping high-quality products
- No ML experience required; strong software engineering fundamentals
- Proven ability to demonstrate impact in past work
- Strong programming knowledge in a language such as Ruby, Python, or JavaScript
- BSc in Computer Science, Maths or Statistics or related discipline
- Willingness to learn and develop ML skills on the job
- Strong ownership and accountability
- Bias towards progress over perfection
