Senior Software Engineer II – Fraud Squad – Account Integrity (Java)

Overview

In this Senior Software Engineer role within Wise’s Account Integrity team, you will build and refine the systems that protect customer accounts from financial crime. You’ll own end-to-end projects, shaping a scalable fraud prevention engine and improving controls that safeguard user money. The role combines backend development with frontend work to deliver real-world security impacts and accelerate product growth. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven, robust solutions that meet regulatory expectations.

Responsibilities

• Build and refine critical controls to protect customer accounts from takeovers
• Drive backend and frontend work for crime prevention and detection systems (80% backend, 20% frontend)
• Deliver measurable impact by securing customer funds, increasing automation, and supporting a world-class money transfer product

Key requirements

• Professional experience with Java or other JVM-based languages (Spring)
• Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines, distributed and concurrent systems
• Strong product mindset with the ability to drive projects independently and make data-driven decisions with the customer in mind
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, including query optimization and resilient schemas
• Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts across Product, Data Science, and Investigations
