A respected organisation within the research sector is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support and improve its business-critical technology environment.
This is an opportunity for an Infrastructure Engineer who combines strong technical troubleshooting with the ability to deliver infrastructure projects, advise stakeholders and contribute to technology strategy. You’ll work across cloud, networking, security and virtualisation, acting as a key escalation point while helping shape future infrastructure improvements.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and improve server, storage, virtualisation and network infrastructure.
- Support Microsoft 365, Azure and cloud identity services.
- Resolve complex technical issues, providing 2nd and 3rd line escalation.
- Lead infrastructure upgrades, projects and technical consultancy.
- Maintain infrastructure security, resilience and service standards.
- Support AV and collaboration technologies.
- Produce technical documentation, improve processes and mentor colleagues.
- Contribute to technology roadmaps, infrastructure planning and continuous improvement.
What They’re Looking For
- Strong experience supporting complex enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Broad knowledge of networking, operating systems, servers and infrastructure technologies.
- Proven troubleshooting and escalation skills.
- Experience delivering technical projects and advising stakeholders.
- Understanding of technology roadmaps and strategic planning.
- Strong communication skills, with experience coaching or mentoring colleagues.
Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, VMware, enterprise storage, endpoint security or Power Platform would be advantageous. Relevant Microsoft Azure or ITIL qualifications are also beneficial.
