Education and Training Committee Members

Overview

As ETC member, you will shape policy on education, training and professional competence. You will challenge and critically evaluate evidence to support decision-making and ensure robust quality assurance and governance. You will act as a constructive adviser to the executive while keeping governance and management distinct, and you will help assure the Board on education and training standards. This is an opportunity to influence the future of the Bar, strengthen professional culture and maintain public confidence in legal services.

Pay / Benefits

• per diem pay £330 for up to 10 days per year

Responsibilities

• Contribute to strategic discussions and policy development on education, training and competence
• Provide constructive challenge and independent judgement on complex issues
• Review evidence, data and performance information to support decision-making
• Help ensure robust quality assurance and governance arrangements
• Act as a critical friend to the executive while maintaining governance/management separation
• Support the Committee in providing assurance and advice to the BSB Board

Key requirements

• Expertise in professional education, training, qualifications or continuing professional competence
• Experience in quality assurance, standards setting or regulatory oversight within higher or professional education
• Strategic leadership with governance experience in complex organisations
• Ability to analyse complex information and exercise sound judgement
• Outstanding relationship-building skills and stakeholder engagement
