Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Azure

Overview

You will drive infrastructure initiatives within NHS SBS, focusing on Azure, identity management, and core infrastructure. As a technical SME, you’ll guide solutions, support incident resolution, and own technical changes from planning to handover. With a largely remote UK-based setup and occasional travel to Leeds or Southampton, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver reliable services. This role offers growth within an established team and opportunities to shape cloud and identity platforms for the NHS. You’ll work on meaningful projects that directly support NHS users and patients through robust infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead infrastructure projects across Microsoft Azure, identity management and core infrastructure technologies
• Act as subject matter expert, providing technical guidance, evaluation and implementation support
• Support third-line incidents and contribute to major incident resolution
• Own technical changes with planning, delivery, documentation and knowledge transfer to operations
• Manage and support Windows Server, Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory environments
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver business outcomes

Key requirements

• Strong practical experience administering and supporting Microsoft Azure environments
• Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory administration
• Solid experience managing and supporting Windows Server infrastructure
• Experience leading technical implementations, upgrades and project delivery activities
• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation, support guides and infrastructure diagrams
• Confidence managing competing priorities and working with diverse stakeholders
