Vertical Transportation Engineer

Overview

As a Vertical Transportation Engineer, you will design, analyse and oversee VT systems across new and modernisation projects. You’ll work within AECOM Building & Places’ VT team to deliver safe, efficient elevators, escalators and moving walkways. You’ll translate complex requirements into drawings, reports and specifications while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. This role offers exposure to high-profile projects and a path to grow within a global engineering practice.

Responsibilities

• Develop vertical transportation design concepts and sizing for lifts in various building types
• Conduct lift traffic analysis, ideally using Elevate
• Produce conceptual and scheme designs and reports at key design stages
• Oversee production of drawings and specifications for VT projects
• Provide VT expertise on multidisciplinary projects and coordinate with other engineers
• Inspect installations and witness testing on site
• Support wider VT team activities and undertake site surveys
• Attend design team and client meetings and uphold Safety, Health & Environment policies

Key requirements

• NVQ4, HNC or equivalent or lift engineering qualification
• Extensive VT experience; background in lift contracting or consulting preferred
• Strong analytical understanding of engineering principles
• Team-oriented with ability to work across disciplines
• Proficiency in design software including ElevATE, CADD, BIM, Revit, Word, Excel, Outlook
