Overview

In this Founding AI Engineer role, you will own AI engineering end-to-end within a fast-moving pre-seed startup focused on applied AI and computer vision for AI-powered video tools in media environments. You will work closely with the founders to shape product quality, improve infrastructure efficiency, and set the technical direction as the company scales. You will tackle practical AI challenges, optimize token usage, and deploy state-of-the-art models in production. This is a rare opportunity to build foundational AI capabilities at a founding level with real business impact.

Responsibilities

• own AI engineering end-to-end and contribute to product quality
• optimize infrastructure efficiency and technical direction
• work with latest AI models and reduce token usage
• deploy, eval, and optimize AI systems in production
• collaborate directly with founders on strategic AI decisions
• address greenfield AI engineering challenges
• contribute to video/vision-focused AI tooling in media environments

Key requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Applied AI / ML / MLOps
• strong Python skills and production AI systems experience
• experience with LLMs, Generative AI, prompt engineering or agentic workflows
• exposure to AI infrastructure, deployment, evals or optimisation
• startup mindset with hands-on, product-focused approach
• computer vision / video / VFX / rendering experience is beneficial
