Senior Estimator

Overview

In this Senior Estimator role, you will own the full tender process from enquiry to handover for a Bristol-based facades and cladding specialist. You’ll collaborate with clients, suppliers and internal teams to develop accurate, competitive estimates that support on-time, successful project delivery. The role focuses on identifying costs, risks and assumptions early, and shaping robust pricing for complex projects. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in estimating and pre-construction, contributing to the company’s growth and reputation for quality.

Responsibilities

• Review tender enquiries, drawings and specifications to define project scope
• Attend site visits and liaise with clients and stakeholders to clarify requirements
• Prepare take-offs, measurements and cost estimates for labour, materials, plant, services and subcontract works
• Identify risks, exclusions and assumptions for tender pricing
• Source and manage supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Coordinate with procurement to ensure competitive pricing
• Work with design, commercial and operational teams to ensure accurate tender submissions
• Support pre-construction with scope, design, procurement, programme and logistics
• Agree final project pricing and payment terms prior to commencement
• Provide commercial handovers and ongoing estimating support during project delivery
• Ensure compliance with statutory, health, safety and environmental requirements
• Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams
• Support continuous improvement of estimating processes

Key requirements

• 5+ years’ estimating experience in roofing and cladding
• Understanding of subcontract documentation and tender processes
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
• Proven experience with quantity take-offs and measurements
• Experience producing detailed, robust estimates
• Strong understanding of labour, material, plant and subcontract costs
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management
• Strong attention to detail and organization
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
