Contracts Responsible Engineer – (CRE)

Overview

In this role you coordinate and manage design delivery and provide engineering guidance on a major project. You will lead a discipline’s design activities, liaise with the Lead Designer and CREs, and ensure compliance with standards and contract requirements. You will manage temporary works, resource allocation, and interface between design, installation and testing. You contribute to bid support and project management with technical insight, driving timely design approvals and safe, compliant delivery. This position offers impact across design, construction and site operations within a leading civil engineering contractor.

Responsibilities

• Promote health, safety and environmental best practices with HSQE
• Provide operational, strategic and contractual technical advice for bids and project management
• Oversee day-to-day engineering activities for the discipline and resource allocation
• Act as Temporary Works Coordinator and lead for the discipline within the project
• Ensure design/construction complies with standards, legislation, and contract specs
• Coordinate with Lead Designer to ensure clear delivery of project outputs
• Lead communication with CREs and ensure multi-disciplinary coordination
• Collaborate with CEM to maintain ongoing integration of design, installation and testing
• Review and endorse key project documents (Work Package Plans, ITPs, Risk Assessments)
• Manage interface between design, installation and testing activities
• Fulfill other duties on request

Key requirements

• Extensive management experience in civil engineering
• Extensive design and construction experience in the discipline
• BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering
• Understanding of AtW competence NR/L2/INI/02009/02 and related requirements
• Ability to take initiative and meet deadlines
• MEng/MSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering – desirable
• Previous CRE experience on NR projects – desirable
• PTS – desirable
