Development Underwriter – High Hazard

Overview

In this role you will help launch and scale a brand-new high hazard underwriting proposition within a well-backed MGA. You will build a profitable portfolio from day one, establishing broker partnerships and becoming a recognized market presence regionally. You’ll operate with significant underwriting authority to trade commercially and shape the growth of the new proposition. This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial opportunity to contribute to a high-impact, long-term initiative.

Responsibilities

• Develop profitable new business across high hazard commercial risks
• Build and strengthen relationships with UK retail brokers
• Underwrite and negotiate complex property & casualty risks
• Become a recognized market presence for the business within your region
• Play a key role in the launch and growth of the new underwriting proposition
• Manage portfolio growth with a focus on profitability
• Utilize underwriting authority to trade commercially
• Collaborate with the broader platform to scale operations

Key requirements

• Development underwriting experience within the UK commercial insurance market
• Strong experience underwriting higher hazard property & casualty risks
• Existing broker relationships capable of generating new business quickly
• Commercially-minded trader with a track record of profitable portfolio growth
