Voluntary Retirement and Return

Overview

In this retirement and return role, you help NHSGGC staff rejoin the workforce after retirement, ensuring compliance and smooth onboarding. You coordinate approvals, timelines, and necessary documentation to enable phased or full-time returns. You liaise with HR, SPPA, and payroll to confirm eligibility, break requirements, and current employment status. You work with cross-functional teams to manage the eESS HR portal and related processes, delivering a clear, supported experience for returning colleagues. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to support workforce planning and staff reintegration within NHSGGC’s healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate retirement-return process, including six-month notification and eligibility checks
• Guide applicants through required documents (payroll number, PVG, National Insurance) and ensure correct portal submissions
• Direct applicants to appropriate contacts for partial retirement, bank contracts, or vacancies in different job families
• Advise on leave, phased retirement options, and engagement forms via the HR portal (eESS)
• Monitor communication, confirm receipt, and escalate issues with Jobtrain support as needed
• Provide information and referrals for SPPA superannuation guidance
• Facilitate access to required channels for contract applications and staff bank arrangements
