Director of Engineering

Overview

In this role you will lead engineering, product development, compliance, and technical innovation for lighting systems. You will shape and execute the product strategy across electronics, mechanical, and optical domains, ensuring robust, manufacturable designs. You’ll drive NPI, continuous improvement, and customer-specific programs within time and budget constraints. This position partners with senior leaders to scale a respected global brand and expand into new markets, delivering high-impact solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering, product development, compliance, and technical innovation across lighting systems
• Oversee electronic, mechanical, and optical development with emphasis on PCBA and mechanical design
• Ensure designs are robust, manufacturable, and cost-effective
• Support new product introduction, continuous improvement, and customer-specific programs on time and within budget
• Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to shape the product strategy

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field
• 10–15 years of engineering experience in lighting or related sectors
• 5+ years in a senior leadership role
• Hands-on background in electronic design and PCBA development
• Experience in regulated, high-volume manufacturing
• Knowledge of LED lighting systems, related electronics, and control circuitry
• Experience with plastics and metals in manufacturing
• PCBA documentation, release processes, and change control
• EMC, thermal, and reliability design principles
• Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
