Commercial Technology Associate – 1-3 PQE – Manchester
Our client, a leading international law firm, is looking to strengthen its Commercial Technology team with the addition of an Associate (1-3 PQE, minimum 1 PQE) based in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly regarded team working on complex, high‑profile deals across emerging technology, IT and technology‑led BPO outsourcing. The team has a strong track record advising on some of the most significant outsourcing deals in recent years, spanning AI, cloud, automation, additive manufacturing and blockchain, and is particularly well known for its work in the financial services sector, advising major institutions and Fintech/Regtech businesses alike on the regulatory impact of critical IT projects.
The role
- Advising a broad range of customer and supplier clients on technology contracts, from traditional IT and outsourcing agreements to contracts for innovative and disruptive technologies, including AI systems and services
- Advising on technology‑related regulatory requirements, particularly in the financial services sector and in the context of AI deployment
- Supporting the technology aspects of corporate transactions
- Business development, including speaking at client seminars, internal training and preparing client briefing papers
- Direct client‑facing work and relationship management
What we’re looking for
- Experience advising on the full range of IT and outsourcing contracts
- A genuine interest in technology, including artificial intelligence
- Associate level, 1-3 PQE (minimum 1 PQE)
- Experience advising on outsourcing and technology contracts; exposure to AI‑related work would be advantageous
- A solid grounding in technology and commercial law, along with related laws and regulations
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate confidently with clients from a variety of backgrounds
