Job Overview
GBR Recruitment Ltd is working exclusively with a leading UK‑wide food manufacturing business (low risk ingredients producer) to recruit an experienced Quality Manager. The role is to lead a large quality team of 10‑15 across several UK manufacturing sites in South Yorkshire, Yorkshire & Manchester.
The Quality Manager will report to the Group Technical Manager and focus on delivering high‑end quality processes and practices. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with BRC, company standards and client‑specified standards, as well as overall quality assurance for all sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Day‑to‑day management of the quality department.
- Lead internal audit plans to ensure quality standards are maintained and legislation is fully complied with.
- Collaborate with the Technical Manager to establish, maintain and apply technical policies and quality management systems across all sites.
- Lead technical problem investigation and problem solving.
- Drive continuous improvement of HACCP across all departments.
- Manage retailer / client systems to ensure technical compliance.
- Train and develop staff in hygiene and food safety to required levels.
- Lead all customer and third‑party audits and visits (BRC, etc.).
- Maintain the company’s ERP system accurately.
- Travel to all UK sites (9) for BRC audits (annually, unannounced) and other duties.
Qualifications and Attributes
- QA management professional with extensive food manufacturing experience.
- Level 3 qualifications in both HACCP and Food Safety.
- Extensive knowledge of the latest BRC standards.
- Key strengths in HACCP, TACCP, GMP and QMS systems.
- Experience in leading customer and third‑party audits (BRC, etc.).
- Highly customer focused, delivering real customer satisfaction.
- Strong people management and development skills (leading 10 +).
- Experience in food ingredients manufacturing / food processing.
- Competent with various food industry IT systems, ERP, Excel and Word.
Location
This role is suitable for candidates living in Sheffield, Rotherham, Gainsborough, Brigg, Retford, Barnsley, Wakefield, Pontefract, Castleford, Leeds, Selby, Goole, Hessle or York due to the site locations.
