Operations & Engagement Lead Bedhampton Community Centre | Bedhampton, Hampshire | On-site 28 hours/week (4 days) | National Living Wage (currently £12.71/hour)
About us
Bedhampton Community Centre is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation at the heart of community life in Bedhampton, Hampshire. Our mission is to provide an accessible and completely inclusive centre, breaking down barriers and giving our community regular opportunities to help shape and develop what we offer. We’re a small, dedicated team — and every role here makes a real, visible difference to the people who use our building every week.
About the role
This is a newly shaped role at the operational heart of the Centre. You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day running of our bookings, membership programme, volunteer engagement and Programme of Events — freeing up our Centre Manager to focus on the strategic relationships and partnerships that help the Centre grow. It’s a broad, hands-on role for someone who likes variety, genuine ownership, and being part of a small team where your work is felt immediately.
What you’ll do
Bookings & membership
- Be the first point of contact for hirer enquiries and booking diary conflicts
- Own the day-to-day running of our membership programme — welcoming new members, chasing renewals, and handling queries
- Recruit, induct and build ongoing relationships with our regular volunteers
- Coordinate volunteer rotas, recognition and communication
- Recruit and run a new volunteer fundraising group, working closely with our Fundraising Trustee on direction and targets
- Plan and deliver fundraising events, from small raffles to larger ticketed events
Programme of Events
- Own the strategy and delivery of our regular Programme of Events, including our popular Wednesday Afternoon Social Group
- Help grow the programme over time in coordination with the Centre Manager and Board
Promotion
- Work alongside our Marketing & Social Media lead to promote events and activities across our channels
What we’re looking for
- Genuine passion for community work and building relationships with people from all walks of life
- Strong organisational skills — comfortable owning several workstreams at once and prioritising independently
- Clear, warm communication style
- A solid, honest work ethic and a strong sense of integrity
- Comfortable with everyday digital tools — email, spreadsheets, and a booking system — with a willingness to learn new ones
- Flexibility to support occasional evening and weekend events (compensated through Time Off in Lieu)
No two weeks look the same in this role — if you’re someone who likes structure but also enjoys rolling up your sleeves for a community event on a Saturday, we’d love to hear from you.
28 hours per week over 4 days. Paid at National Living Wage (currently £12.71/hour). Evening and weekend flexibility is required from time to time to support events and our Programme of Events, managed through Time Off in Lieu.
Bedhampton Community Centre is committed to being an inclusive employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
