Postal Delivery Driver (Postie)

Location: Eastbourne DO, BN21 1AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30 hours per week – 5 days in 7 across Monday – Sunday – 9:00/15:00*.

Sunday duty: You’ll be required to work Sundays between 10:00 and 16:00.

What You’ll Do

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office
• Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area
• Build relationships with customers
• Work outdoors in all weathers

You’ll deliver more than just mail: exam results, birthday cards, business orders, and moments that matter. It’s not always easy – but it’s always rewarding.

What To Expect

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time‑pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self‑motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
• As a Postie, you’re expected to securely deliver all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items (such as food products or alcohol) in line with Royal Mail business standards.
