Overview

Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced HGV Class 2 Flatbed Driver for a client based in Great Barford, Bedford. You will deliver goods safely and professionally while operating a Class 2 flatbed vehicle. There is potential to move into a permanent position with a well‑established company that invests in its employees.

Salary

£17.00 – £18.50 per hour (Agency) | £38,000 – £40,000 per annum upon securing a permanent position

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 5:00 am – 6:00 am start times (average 10.5-hour days)

Responsibilities

• Drive HGV Class 2 flatbed vehicles safely and efficiently
• Deliver goods to customers across planned routes
• Carry out daily vehicle safety inspections before each shift
• Secure loads correctly and ensure they are transported safely
• Complete delivery paperwork and driver records accurately
• Follow all road transport, health and safety, and company procedures
• Keep vehicles clean and report any defects promptly

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card
• Previous Class 2 driving experience is essential
• Flatbed driving experience is advantageous but not essential
• Good understanding of road transport and load restraint procedures
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
• IPAF licence would be an advantage; if not held, full training can be provided for the right candidate
