Drivers Mate

The Drivers Mate role is based in Solihull and involves home delivery of white goods, furniture and flatpacks as part of a two-person crew. You will assist a 7.5t driver, loading the vehicle at the Shirley RDC before completing deliveries across a 120‑mile radius.

This contract position offers £13.05 per hour with 30 to 40 hours weekly, typically across a three‑to‑four‑day working pattern. The role commences immediately and is expected to continue through 2026 and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Load the 7.5t vehicle at the Shirley RDC and accompany the driver on delivery runs
• Deliver white goods, furniture and flatpacks safely and efficiently to customers across a 120‑mile radius
• Provide excellent customer service and handle any customer queries or issues during deliveries
• Assist with the installation of goods where required, upon completion of training

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous experience as a Drivers Mate or similar role
• Prior customer service experience is desired
• Experience and comfort with heavy lifting
• Ability to work flexible shift patterns, including Saturdays

Hours & Pay

Shift patterns:

• AM shifts: 06:00–17:00, 3‑4 shifts per week (Mon–Sat)
• PM shifts: 10:00–21:00, 3‑4 shifts per week (Mon–Sat)
• Saturday start times are 06:00 or 07:00

Pay:

• £13.05 per hour for AM shifts
• £15.80 per hour for PM shifts after 19:00 (premium allowance)
• Overtime rates apply for hours worked after 41 hours per week

Additional Information

In‑house training facilities will provide the full role induction. There is potential for progression and increased pay once trained on installation of goods.
